“Pendex is an up-to-date and comprehensive list of articles and publications related to pens, ink, and collecting. Each entry gives the title of the work, the author (if known) and where the work was published. A brief description of the article follows the citation. In addition to the articles list is a reference section that cites publications related to pens. The index concludes with a list of the issues of the periodicals references in PENDEX. Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of citations – errors should be directed to the editor.
Pendex user information: PENDEX contains references to almost 1700 articles from over 240 magazine issues in addition to 42 book references published in the United States from 1978 to 1997.
Subsections require at least 2 entries to be given a separate listing. For example, in the major sections of MANUFACTURERS and RESTORATION/REPAIR there would need to be least 2 articles on a specific pen/manufacturers for it to be given a separate subsection heading.
Pens/manufacturers with only 1 article are listed in the general subsection at the beginning of the major section (indicated by in the Table of contents). Articles in each subsection are in alphabetical order by author.
All articles about “pen” people will be found in the Personalities section even if they represent a manufacturer. The manufacturers section is reserved for information about pens and the company only. Articles about “paper” and “writing” people, as well as paper-related book reviews, will be found in the paper section or writing subsection of pens.
Reviews of pen shows, general information, or articles of little interest to the pen collector are not referenced.”
